I’ve been writing about lots of savory things lately, with the best romantic restaurants in London with a view and delicious menus, and the most affordable Asian restaurants in Chinatown.

Today, I was feeling greedy so I guess it’s time to dive in the best bakeries in London. I love finding new addresses – British, French, even Swedish. A pastry is a pastry, but in West to East London bakeries, carbs take on another meaning.

12 Cutest Bakeries & Pastry Shops in London For An Instagram-Worthy Bite

Here are 12 addresses for you to find the best pastries in London. Back where I come from (France), patisseries and bread are a ritual in the morning. Finding some amazing cakes in London just makes me feel a bit at home. Without further ado, here are the most Instagrammable and the best artisan bakeries in London!

1. Biscuiteers Boutique and Icing Café

Photo: Standard

Biscuiteers Boutique & Icing Coffee is one of the most famous London bakeries. Not only is the cuteness of the pastry shop to die for, but the actual patisseries are a true find. This is an artisan pastry shop that allows customers to come and create their own iced cakes and biscuits. Isn’t that a super fun cheap thing to do in London?

The workshop flies by when you’re having fun decorating the best biscuits in London. If you don’t want to participate in anything that will get your hands dirty, that’s still one of the best patisseries in London to chill. You can order some amazing spiced latte, sit down, and just enjoy the minutes passing by. We don’t enjoy nothingness enough in the city, and I believe that sitting in one of the top bakeries in London can help with that.

That’s admittedly one of the most famous bakeries in Notting Hill when it comes to that unique artistic take on patisserie in London. After a tour of the area, which is one of the cutest of the city, why not take the time to relax and reflect?

Biscuiteers London Pastry Shop Address: 194 Kensington Park Road Notting Hill, London W11 2ES

2. The Good Rice Italian Bakery

If you’ve ever been to Italy, then you’ve probably already eaten their amazing croissants filled with pastry cream, pistachio cream, marmelade, and more delicious fillings. We’re lucky to have some foreign-inspired London bakeries that offer some of the best pastries you’ll ever eat, and The Good Rice Italian Bakery is definitely one of them.

If you’re looking for the “best bakery near me Soho”, you’re going to want to travel to this one. I promise. The doughs are crispy, chewy and buttery like they do it in Italy. Southern Italian influences give an amazing twist to the famous pistachio cream and almonds used in the shop.

There’s no wonder why The Good Rice Italian Bakery is one of the best bakeries in London – probably the best bakery, actually. Maybe that’s because I’ve lived in Rome and I’ve stuffed myself with the best patisseries and cakes for months on end (I’m not sorry).

In any case, as far as sweet, cute, artisan bakeries in London go, we’re pretty set with this one. The specialties are like “back there”, with sfogliatelle, cornetti, focaccia, and delicious arancini. Not one of the fancy bakeries that sell overpriced pastries, and definitely a tasty one just a stone’s throw away from Marylebone and the Camden area.

Good Rice Italian Bakery London Address: 98 Robert Street, London NW1 3QP

3. Knead A Little Love

I’ve got a good surprise for my vegan folks – Knead a Little Love is one of the best vegan pastry shops in London, and by far. If you’re looking for exquisite donuts that fill both the heart and the stomach, here you go. Did you type “best vegan bakery near me” to arrive here? Because if you did, Knead A Little Love is the only pastry shop in London you’ll need anyway.

Initially launched in East London in Hoxton, a quiet and super friendly area, the patisserie is now a brick-and-mortar shop in Balham. Those are the best donuts in London I’m talking about, not only the best cakes. Knead A Little Love even has great snacks and lunch specials that you just want to keep picking in again and again.

From a street market stand to one of the most famous cake shops in London, the fancy bakery has gone a long way – and out of its way to satisfy our sweet cravings.

Knead a Little Love Pastry Shop Address: 8 Ritherdon Rd, London SW17 8QD

4. Primrose Bakery

Primrose Bakery has got to be one of the cutest bakeries in London ever. When I think of this Kensington, Primrose Hill and Covent Garden-based pastry shop, one word comes to mind “pink”. The London bakery is not all about pink though, however it is all about pastel.

If you’re looking for the best cake bakery London, and sweet, sweet cupcakes, there you go. It’s just one of the fancy bakeries in London where you feel like you’re in -Unicornland. If it wasn’t enough that their creamy, delicious recipes are mindblowing, this London pastry shop has a staff that loves what they do – and you can feel it. Probably why it’s on of the best bakeries in London.

5. Peggy Porschen

12 Cutest Bakeries & Pastry Shops in London For An Instagram-Worthy Bite - Croissants, Muffins, Cupcakes, Afternoon Tea, Bread - Islington, Covent Garden, Camden, Spitalfields, East London...

Peggy Porschen is one of the fancy bakeries in London, and one of the most famous as well. It’s not hard to understand why – just look at the picture above. The whole pastry shop is perfectly Instagrammable, and people come from all around London (and the world) to purchase their amazing birthday cakes and cupcakes.

Peggy Porschen might not offer the best croissants in London, or the best bread, but the delicacies they create are headturning. The boutiques are pink, the recipes are well-crafted and taste almost magical. There’s nothing that the best bakeries in London have on Peggy Porschen. They know their art, and they show it.

Peggy Porschen Pastry Shop Address: 116 Ebury Street, London SW1W 9QQ

6. Rinkoff Bakery

12 Cutest Bakeries & Pastry Shops in London For An Instagram-Worthy Bite - Croissants, Muffins, Cupcakes, Afternoon Tea, Bread - Islington, Covent Garden, Camden, Spitalfields, East London...

Rinkoff Bakery is one of the best East London bakeries. Their cronuts (a mix of croissant and donut) are one of my favorite things to shop there. The selection is huge and they always seem to have a good stock of cakes, bread, and other delicious things to shop and almost feel guilty about afterwards.

If I had to choose the best bakery in East London, that’s definitely the one I would choose. I’m definitely a sucker for artisan and independent bakeries in London, because I love authenticity. Authenticity is often cheaper, and much tastier.

So while they don’t offer the best almond croissant London or the best muffins, it’s still one of the cool addresses that will come up when you search for “nice bakeries near me”. And it deserves all the attention it can get.

It’s not too far from Brick Lane either, so I would definitely suggest getting one or two pastry goodies and heading towards the coolest street art in London ever.

Rinkoff Bakery London Address: 224 Jubilee Street, London E1 3BS

7. Gail’s Bakery

The first time I went to a London bakery, I think it was a Gail’s Bakery shop. And boy, am I glad I did. Their cinnamon rolls are one of the best pastries in London, and even in the world. And I’m not exaggerating.

The London pastry shop brand also bakes the tastiest bread. This is one of the fancy bakeries, and the prices all around are set higher than other bakeries and patisseries in London. But Gail’s is definitely worth it. I’ve never eaten one thing that I haven’t fallen in love with.

If you’re looking for the best bakery in Soho, Gail’s is your top choice. You can even order a drink in this chain that looks like it’s just been created in a cellphone simulation game. It’s quaint, it’s cosy, and the pastries are absolutely delicious. Just stop for a cinnamon roll and a coffee, and you’re set for some amazing me-time.

8. Petek Bakery & Pastry Shop

12 Cutest Bakeries & Pastry Shops in London For An Instagram-Worthy Bite - Croissants, Muffins, Cupcakes, Afternoon Tea, Bread - Islington, Covent Garden, Camden, Spitalfields, East London...
Photo: UberEats

Petek Patisserie is one of the top London bakeries and pastry shops. It’s one of those secret gems in London that you go to only because a friend has told you about it. Still, it’s there, in plain sight, one of the best London pastry shops all around.

Whatever kind of greedy cake you want, they have it. Sure, it’s not a bakery in Covent Garden or Camden, and you’ll have to travel just a tad more up to Wood Green, around Islington and Haringey. But Petek bakery is definitely worth it.

Just grab a slice of the most colorful cake you’ll find, get a drink, and enjoy. Plus, there’s a cool mall and a Primark at the end of the road, so that makes for a cool weekend breakfast in London.

Petek Patisserie London Address: 27A High Rd, London N22 6BH

9. The Hummingbird Bakery

There’s no doubt that Hummingbird Bakery is one of the best cake shops in London. The array of colorful pastries is mindblowing, and I can personally never make up my mind there. Well I mean, if I look for the best bakery near me, I don’t expect to know straight away what I want to order.

Still, Hummingbird Bakery is one of the most famous bakeries in the city. If you’re looking for the best chocolate cake in London, or the best cupcakes, there’s a solid option. I’ve found that the most Instagrammable pastry shops in London are always cute, with lots of pink in the decor. As if the good cake shops had to be run by ladies – or do they have to be?

Hummingbird has a cake shop Spitalfields as well as other addresses throughout London. I like going to the Spitalfields one because it’s located right off Liverpool Street. That makes it not only one of the best cake shops in London, but a top spot to be near everything. The Portobello Road cake shop is also super cool, and it’s a nice bakery to visit while you’re browsing the Portobello Road Market and the Notting Hill surroundings.

10. Aux Merveilleux de Fred

This one is (also) for my French peers. As a French girl living in London, I do miss our French bread, French croissants and pains au chocolat. How could I not, though? Aux Merveilleux de Fred, although it doesn’t any kind of classic French pastry in London, has worked on amazingly creamy recipes called the “Merveilleux”.

They are made of meringue, cream, and chocolate, and they are the best cakes in London in my opinion. Maybe that’s because I miss home, too. That’s one of the coolest artisan bakeries London where people wait in line even outside to purchase the nicest cakes.

It’s a recipe that just pleases every stomach because it’s light, yet satisfying, and the merveilleux come in different exquisite flavors. And now, talking about the best cake shops in London, I’m making myself hungry.

Since you’re near South Kensington, you can totally pay a visit to the V&A Museum while you’re around. And have a nice dinner at the fancy Italian restaurant Macellaio – and even thank me later because it’s one of the best restaurants in South Kensington.

Aux Merveilleux de Fred London Address: 88 Old Brompton Road, London SW7 3LQ

11. Bageriet Swedish Bakery

I had never been to Swedish bakeries in London before I found Bageriet, and man. London cake shops and bakeries would be missing something if Bageriet wasn’t there. Located in Covent Garden, it’s a tiny shop that does not offer any seating space.

But boy, is it Instagrammable. There, you can get one of their famous cinnamon rolls – one of the very best pastries in London. They’re chewy, gooey, satisfying and home-feeling.

Still, if you’re looking for the best cakes in London, you can’t miss out on their Princess Cake. It’s a landmark in Sweden, and I’ve not yet found other independent bakeries London that offer a cake that good. I mean it. Definitely the best bakery Covent Garden.

Bageriet Swedish Bakery London Address: 24 Rose Street Covent Garden, London WC2E 9EA

12. Brigit’s Bakery

12 Cutest Bakeries & Pastry Shops in London For An Instagram-Worthy Bite - Croissants, Muffins, Cupcakes, Afternoon Tea, Bread - Islington, Covent Garden, Camden, Spitalfields, East London...

Brigit’s Bakery is everything that the best patisseries in London should be: cute, refreshing, and fancy-looking. It is an independent artisan bakery that offers a wide array of options for sweet snacks and even afternoon tea.

Not a lot of bakeries in London offer an afternoon tea that fulfilling. You will certainly not find the best croissants in London on your table, but you’ll get great macarons, cupcakes, and other delish baked goods.

Brigit’s Bakery even has a Brigit’s Bus, a bakery shop bus. Original, isn’t it? Fancy bakeries couldn’t get fancier than that. If you were looking for the best cake shop, you’ve got it. Take some down time, take a notebook, get a drink and a cupcake, and chill.
