8 Best TK Maxx Candle Brands | Homesense Home Decor

TK Maxx candles are life – you cannot convince me otherwise. There are so many underrated candle brands waiting for a new home in the TK Maxx and Homesense stores. By this, I mean they’re waiting for me to bring them home with me. Whenever I go to one of my favorite discount shops in London, TK Maxx candles are definitely on my list.

The huge discount superstore chain is all about cheap big brands and designer labels at small prices. There are quite a few TK Maxx stores that I would visit rather than others:

  • Homesense Greenwich, in the South of London
  • TK Maxx Long Acre near Covent Garden
  • TK Maxx Oxford Street
  • TK Maxx Wood Green in North London

I’ve recently discovered that the TK Maxx candle department at the Wood Green store is huge and well-stocked. That is the store where I’ve taken the pictures of all the Sand and Fog, DW Home, and Yankee Candle candles among other amazing brands.

If you’re new on The London Rack, welcome. This is a budget-friendly blog aimed at anyone who likes (or has) to live on a budget in London. I love this city. I’ve lived there for almost two years, and it still owns my heart even if I now spend my time between London and Rome, Italy.

I’ve written the first review of a TK Maxx candle, Smoked Woods & Bergamot of the brand Makers of Wax Goods (typo M. of W.G.) on my other website, The Rouge Velvet. Feel free to check out this amazingly scented candle to get a vibe of TK Maxx and Homesense candles.

One good thing to know is Homesense and TK Maxx are different stores in the UK. You can get Pecksniffs, Stoneglow, or Crabtree and Evelyn candles from both TKMaxx and Homesense. The difference is that Homesense was a brand created in 2008, and the whole Homesense stores moved into the TK Maxx shops not too long after.

So, when you buy a TK Maxx candle – or anything else, for that matter, you won’t be able to return it at a Homesense store in London, and vice versa. But who would like to return TKMaxx candles, excuse me for asking? They’re just too good to be true!

Enough rambling.

Let’s get on with this mini-guide of the DW Home UK, Sand and Fog, Makers of Wax Goods, and other amazing candles you can find at TK Maxx!

1. DW Home Candles UK | TK Maxx

I love finding a new candle shop near me, but finding a large scented candle TK Maxx is something of another level. I don’t actually really look for places where to buy candles near me in London. I roughly know which TK Maxx store is large enough to carry a whole range of the DW Home candles.

This is a candle brand I was not very well acquainted with when I first moved to London. Still, DW Home UK really deserves some sheen and shine. Their large scented candle collections match my love for amazing, comfortable scents. One of my first DW Home candles was something about Milk & Cookies, the second one was Lava, and I have burned them all down while I was writing.

I’ve written a full DW Home Candles UK review on my candle and beauty website, The Rouge Velvet.

Then, I got a stronger large scented candle from DW Home from the Greenwich Homesense. I can’t remember exactly what scent it was, but it also started smelling almost from the moment I lit it up. Both were looking like comfortable London luxury candles that don’t rely on overpowering packaging. DW Home candles TK Maxx, on the other hand, are about sleek packaging and scents that pack a punch and never intoxicate me.

2. Yankee Candle TK Maxx Candle

I don’t know any candle stores addict who wouldn’t mention Yankee Candle as the top place where to buy candles. There is indeed a big Yankee Candle store London in Greenwich, and everything there is discounted. You can find their beautiful candles – autumn, winter, spring, and summer collections all together – and mix and match them to reach a discounted price anyway.

They’re all there, and even when Yankee Candle Greenwich wasn’t a candle shop near me (I used to live in Bethnal Green), I would still travel for the joy of finding cheap London luxury candles. That’s definitely the first candle shop in London where I would go if Yankee Candle was closer to Central London.

That’s why I was very happy when I found some Yankee among the TK Maxx candles for the first time. They were the big bedroom candles, too, and some were candle scents that I love smelling while I write. The price was around £15, which is quite amazing for a Yankee Candle medium format.

I’ve recently been to a Yankee Candle event for the Countdown to Christmas candle collection 2021 if you’d like to check out the amazing Yankee candles released for this year’s Christmas collection.

3. Sand and Fog Candles TK Maxx

Now, Sand and Fog is something very, very different. You can look for large scented candles all you want, you can look for the best London luxury candles, but nothing comes close to Sand and Fog Candles TK Maxx.

The first time I got a Sand + Fog candle, I think it smelled something like the beach. I can’t remember now, as I hadn’t been to Homesense London candles shops for so long when I went back this year.

Still, I remembered Sand + Fog to be a beautiful candle brand, all matte, with nice stickers that indicate the name and the fact that they are soy blend candles. I never know where to get soy blend candles in London, so coming across Sand and Fog was a bit of a miracle.

Inspired on the California coast, Sand + Fog offers all kinds of luxury London candles that range from the warm, cozy scents I love for everyday writing, to cool-toned scents I love for the summer.

When there’s a candle shop near me (and by this I mean a TK Maxx candle department), I’ll always check what they have in terms of Sand & Fog candles. In the picture, you can see my latest candle crush – definitely the next one I’ll get when I’m back in London.

4. Pecksniffs Candles TK Maxx

I’ve never really looked at the Pecksniffs candles TK Maxx because of their small size. However, they’re beautiful candles and even though they don’t offer the large scented candle format that I am crazy about, they are pure beauty.

Most importantly, they smell amazing. If you’re ever looking to get yourself Homesense candles that are pure luxury, Pecksniff’s candles are the way to go. The scents are light and airy, mostly nature-inspired from what I’ve seen.

The British vibe of delicate scents and laidback afternoons is what I see – and smell – when I ever look at TK Maxx Pecksniffs candles. It’s just another level, elevated, with a sophisticated personality of a candle brand in London.

5. Stoneglow Candles TK Maxx

One of the coolest brands I have found when looking for where to buy candles that would not only smell good but look good is Stoneglow TK Maxx. I was not acquainted with this brand at all and had not bothered to look too much into it because of the small sizes. I already told you that I am a huge enthusiast for large scented candles, but Stoneglow kind of shifted my vision.

If you like nature-inspired Homesense candles and are growing tired of all the autumn candles that smell like pumpkin and more pumpkin, Stoneglow is your new BFF.

Vanilla Sugar and Lime, Rosehip and Berries, Freesia and Cedar are only a few amazing scents that you can find in the TK Maxx Stoneglow candle range. Most often, the format is 200g, and if you like fragrance diffusers, Stoneglow is very famous for their diffusers so that’s one to try.

6. TK Maxx Candles | Makers of Wax Goods

I think Makers of Wax Goods are some of the very best TKMaxx candles you could ever get for your living room, bedroom, or as a gift. If the candle shop near me or the closest TK Maxx does not have some M. of W.G. candles in stock (which happens very rarely), I’ll probably wait until they have some stock.

I believe TK Maxx are one of the only candle stores in London where I can get Makers of Wax Goods. I do also believe that it’s a shame, when these beautiful candles are definitely a luxury item that you’ll want to see everyday.

I first started with a Vanilla Bourbon candle and a Smoked Woods & Bergamot candle from Makers of Wax Goods TK Maxx. Let me tell you, the scents of these medium/large scented candles were unlike anything I’d ever smelled before. Empowering, fantastic, and dragging you back to the brand for more.

If you like beautiful candles that really add something to your home and make you happy day after day, M. of W.G. is a go-to candle brand for you. The scents are always well-refined, and rely on old scents like tobacco, vanilla, bourbon – autumn candles but not only, and perfect for a night in and a romantic movie.

7. This Works Candles TK Maxx

This Works have been some famous candles for quite some time, and they’re now available in the TKMaxx candles range. I already mentioned this with Pecksniffs candles; the size of a candle is very important to me.

The thing is, when I start a new candle, whether from DW Home or Yankee Candle, I know I’ll love it. I have been using candles for years, and I know which scents will be too overpowering, and which will be perfect for me to write to during the day. So what’s the use for me to buy London luxury candles if they’re small and I’ll finish them within the week?

This Works candles TK Maxx, still, have something a bit different to them that I really enjoy. First of all, they’re beautiful candles. Second of all, if I look at where to buy candles near me and find This Works, I know they’ll be sold at the most prestigious shops in London. Marks & Spencer, John Lewis, Feelunique, Asos, and Next are just a few shops where you can get the amazing This Works candles.

What sets the brand apart is the intentional focus on true aromatherapy. There’s a real personality to this candle brand you can find in quite any TK Maxx shop London. Sandalwood, sweet orange, black spice – they’re all amazing candle scents that make you feel happy and dandy.

8. Ninety Six Candles TK Maxx DW Home

Ninety Six candles are definitely the Homesense candles that I love. The brand is actually the premium collection of the DW Home candles UK range. Those large scented candles are big on strong, powerful scents that you will definitely use if you’re the boss of your own life.

The beautiful London luxury candles have something old school to them, almost medieval in their looks. I think they’re perfect bedroom candles; I would know if I used mine for something other than writing inspo. I think at this point, I should have bedroom candles, living room candles, etc.

The budget of getting great TKMaxx candles is not a huge one, so I might look into all the candles shops where I can get the whole Ninety Six range. A double or triple wick candle is always something that gets me crazy. I feel like I’m going to smell more, faster, and that’s definitely what’s happening there with the Ninety Six DW Home candles.

Beyond the elaborated scents, the wooden lid and the metal knob accent really make Ninety Six some real luxury candles – at a fraction of the cost.

There’s so much choice when it comes to candle TK Maxx options that I often feel overwhelmed in store. This especially happens when I’m going on a trip from London to Rome or back home to France. You probably already know I am a freelance writer.

I didn’t fall far from the tree – as a home-based writer, lighting up a candle as inspiration and comfort is a go-to ritual in the morning. When you understand that you can get a huge TK Maxx candle for £12.99, £14.99, and never for more than £20, you just feel the happiest person on Earth.

I am not one who likes small candles. As gifts for other people, maybe. But I know I never tire of my candle scents, because I choose them well. So far, it’s the brand DW Home UK, and Makers of Wax Goods candles that have impressed me most in terms of really big candles.

There are some brands I have not mentioned in their self-standing paragraphs because I don’t know them all that well. They include the Cloud 9 candles, Sand + Paws candles, the Red Leaf Home brand, W+L candles, and Olivia Burke candles. They’re probably great scents and brand personalities, and I’ll have to try one or two when I next go back to London.

Candles are heavy, after all. Who likes having to go back and forth to the store to buy a new little one week after week? I’ll tell you who: not me. So whether you’re looking for awesome autumn candles TK Maxx, or independent candle brands in London, I think TK Maxx and Homesense candles are definitely your solutions.
